New Castle is in the heart of the White River National Forest, the birthplace of the American wilderness movement.

New Castle is also surrounded by thousands of acres of land managed by the U S Bureau of Land Management.

These public lands provide wonderful venues for camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, mountain biking, off highway vehicle use, and rafting.
