US 6 New Castle Roundabout Project Weekly Update: April 29 - May 3

Crews installing temporary pavement on the southwest corner of the project near the gas station. This may cause delays in traffic.

Daytime closures of Bruce Road will continue this week due to continuing work on the storm water line.

Bruce Road will be closed to City Market semis due to the lane closure in place not being able to accommodate the width of semi trucks.

Project Schedule:

In order to accommodate commuter traffic, the project will perform work between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

Crews will be visible on site from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. each day preparing the work zone.

Weekend work may occur throughout the course of the project and will be communicated through the weekly traffic impact updates.

Update: 4/15/2024

  • Work last week included prep work on the manhole at the east end of the project limits, new curb and gutter work on the west side, saw-cutting for the median and asphalt removal at the west end of the project.
  • Work this week will include continued setting of the manhole, forming and pouring of the curb and gutter for the new median, asphalt removal, trenching and installing a 30” pipe. Tree removal by Alpine Bank and along US 6 will start this week as well.
  • Daytime closures of Bruce Road will continue this week. Bruce Road will be closed to City Market semis due to the lane closure in place not being able to accommodate the width of semi trucks.

Update: 3/21/2024

  • Xcel utility work will be trenching across US 6 so traffic control will delineate the work zone as needed.
  • Tree removal along US 6 in front of the City Market plaza will begin next week. The town is looking at ways to preserve some of the healthy trees to possibly repurpose.
  • The team is working on the west end of the work zone on the replacement of a manhole.  Motorists are encouraged to take it slow through the work zone and be aware of barriers in place for safety of the team and the traveling public.
